“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit there is no deceit.” Psalms 32:1-2 (NKJV) The (NLT) says, “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!”
Human sin natures are powerful forces! Some days our longing for relief is likened to finding water in the desert. The above passage mentions three words that describe them. Transgression (rebellion against Divine authority), sin (missing the mark), and iniquity (straying from the straight path). Another word mentioned is “impute.” It means to consider, to come to terms with. True repentance is all about God viewing us as no longer perverse or straying. Real forgiveness has substance and breaks us. It forces us to be honest about our own perversion. When God catches, exposes and forgives us, He also frees us from pretense (deceit)! At last we can be honest. Honesty in our inner person allows God’s mercy to flow freely, carrying away our burdens, creating a space for peace that passes all understanding!
Thank You for the blessing of forgiveness! May our thought processes and emotions be sifted through Your Spirit, empowering us to be set free, regardless of the circumstance(s). In Your Holy Name Jesus, Amen.
